The Priory Group Officially Opens Its First Care Home In Scotland

The Priory Group, Europe’s leading independent provider of mental healthcare, has opened the doors to its first care home for older people in Scotland.
Berelands House Care Home in Prestwick was officially opened by Sharon Butler, managing director of Priory Care Homes alongside Motherwell and former Scotland manager Craig Brown.

Shadow Minister praises Southern Cross helpline

Shadow Health Minister Stephen O’Brien has praised a unique partnership initiative between Southern Cross Healthcare and Action on Elder Abuse.
Overdene House in Winsford, Cheshire, part of Southern Cross Healthcare, the UK’s largest care home operator, hosted a major forum aimed at provoking discussion on the subject of care for older people.
The event highlighted the pioneering partnership between Southern Cross and the charity Action on Elder Abuse. In January the two organisations launched an independent national helpline designed to protect older people from abuse in care homes.

Major new initiative to tackle elder abuse launched

Thousands of elderly care home residents across the country could be protected from the effects of abuse after the charity Action on Elder Abuse launched a unique new helpline, supported by the UK’s leading care provider Southern Cross Healthcare.
Staffed by Action on Elder Abuse, the completely independent freephone helpline will give service users, relatives and staff the opportunity to report abuse knowing that they will be treated seriously and without fear of repercussions.

Midwives at Bishop Auckland General Hospital are so proud of the services they provide, they have produced a video and launched a Facebook site to tell the world.
The midwifery-led unit, part of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, is becoming increasingly popular with expectant mothers from all over the region, promoting Normal Birth.

Active8 help young people gain new confidence

FUNDING BOOSTS INSULATION PLANS FOR MORE THAN 500,000 NORTH EAST HOMES

The North East Home Insulation Partnership (NEHIP) has received a £103,000 funding award which will help it to achieve its goals of free insulation for vulnerable homes in the region.
More than 500,000 homes in the North East are believed to have inadequate insulation and this award, from Defra’s Community Energy Efficiency Fund, is expected to see many of those homes receive aid in time for Winter 2008
