The North East Property Forum held an election special where property agents from across the region presented their key manifesto wishes to the Darlington candidates from the three main political parties. The forum, which is hosted by The Northern Echo in collaboration with Latimer Hinks Solicitors, also gave members the opportunity to question the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat representatives about how their parties would reinvigorate the residential and commercial property markets.
Kate wins Strictly New Business

A lack of mortgage availability and the large deposits required by lenders is having a severe impact on the market according to members of the North East Property forum, which is hosted by the Northern Echo in collaboration with Latimer Hinks Solicitors. The forum, which was joined by Terry Davies, from independent financial advisers Jonathan Fry and Co, also looked at how the commercial and agricultural sectors were faring.

Housing Chief To Kick Start £20 Million Regeneration Scheme

Coast & Country Housing has hosted a visit by the Chairman of the Homes and Communities Agency to its £20m Steeple Chase development, which is the largest in the country to receive Kickstart funding from the HCA. Robert Napier, HCA Chairman, took to the controls of a digger to cut the first patch of earth for the foundation works to get underway at the site in Redcar. Steeple Chase, which was formerly the Blayberry/Burnmoor estate, has been allocated £4.5m by the HCA towards its first four phases, which will comprise 141 homes. The Second Of Linfield Point's 'Futurescope' Is Unveiled

The new image is more thought-provoking and challenging than the initial ‘Sunflowers’ photograph and draws more directly on Lingfield Point itself as an inspiration. ‘The Beeman’ is Dave Wilson, head of landscaping and maintenance and chief beekeeper at Lingfield Point. The photograph was taken in the Turbine Hall just behind the Power House. ‘Futurescope’ is a two-year-long sequential, outdoor exhibition of eight massive circular photographs and images displayed on the eastern elevation of the Powerhouse, which faces the transport corridor and the Darlington ring road. The structure is 45 feet in diameter and clearly visible to a wide cross section of Darlington’s residents and visitors at the new gateway to the town. TADEA team up with the mayor of Hartlepool to promote free housing insulation

Thousands of homes in Hartlepool can beat the big freeze and save money by taking advantage of a free home insulation scheme. Hartlepool Borough Council’s Hartwarmers initiative and TADEA, the North East not-for-profit energy advice service, have teamed up to offer free cavity wall and loft insulation for qualifying homeowners in the town. Families with children under 16 and those aged over 55 can have cavity wall and loft insulation installed for free. All other households pay just £99, a saving of around £200 - £300. Mayor Stuart Drummond launched the scheme by helping contractors install insulation at the home of Philip Gleaves and Lauren Burton on the Headland.
