Fish and chip restaurant Barkers of Richmond has welcomed two dignitaries through its doors almost a year to the day after it burned down. On May 14, 2008, an electrical fire wreaked havoc through the building in Trinity Square. However, following a major year-long refurbishment, Barkers reopened its doors this week and has welcomed Yorkshire & Humber MEP Timothy Kirkhope and the Mayor of Richmond, Councillor Judith Steggles, through its doors to perform the official opening.

Bannatyne's Vertical Rush workout

Bannatyne’s Health Club at Tower 42 in the City of London is helping fundraisers prepare for Shelter’s unique ‘Vertical Rush’ charity run, with the launch a special online training video. ‘Vertical Rush’, which takes place in March 2009, will see participants run up The city of London’s tallest building, Tower 42 in a sport called ‘tower running’. It is one of the world’s fastest growing sports, but this is the first time it has taken place in Britain. To help runners take on the building’s 42 floors and 750 steps, Bannatyne’s fitness professionals have created an exercise video, which has been donated to Shelter to use on their website.
